Remember those strong old Flexible Flyers, the ones that refused to break? The Classic Flyer is what a runner sled should be, with thick kiln-dried planks of beautiful northern birch and extra-thick powder-coated steel runners. On mass-market runner sleds, the "knees," the bent steel parts that connect the runners to the top, are the weakest point and collapse easily. On the Classic, the knees are made of extra-thick steel designed to handle lots of abuse.
Stainless steel bolts, and the solid birch top makes the Classic the sturdiest Flyer you've ever seen. Willow handrails ensure a good grip. This heirloom-quality sled is designed to last for more than one lifetime.
Hand Engraving: We can engrave a child's name (or an adult's!) onto any sled. Lettering is 2" tall and runs lengthwise up the center of the sled. Cost: $30.
Sled Pad: A sled pad is available, a nice reversible cushion with a water-resistant nylon exterior. It attaches with sturdy nylon ties. Cost $30.
The Classic Flyer meets all ASTM and USC child safety criteria. The marine-grade finish is of course lead-free.
