Betsy Fernley's love affair with the sewing machine started many years before she could sew herself. Each season her Grandma would make four or five new outfits, and take a snapshot of Betsy posing in each one. Betsy's favorites were the matching Easter dresses for herself and her sister Martha. The year Betsy turned 10, her Grandma taught her to sew on her old Viking sewing machine. By the time she was in high school, Betsy made the majority of her own wardrobe and her classmates were hiring her to sew for them.
